This lesson introduces “ta” and “ti-ti” (pronounced tee) as ways to count quarter and eighth notes. These are the counting syllables used by the great Hungarian composer and music pedagogue Zoltán Kodály (ZOL-tan Ko-DYE). Using easy to pronounce counting syllables is a great way for children to begin to understand and read the rhythm in printed music.
The second part of the video shows how to play a fun partner game while reciting Pease Porridge Hot.
